High School Football Power Rankings

1. Mountain Heritage (3–0)The Cougars are averaging 42.6 points per game while allowing 20.3. They feature a deep stable of running backs, a strong offensive line, and solid talent across the board.

2. Brevard (2–1)The Blue Devils are big up front on the offensive line and averaging 34 points per game. Their defense has been stingy, allowing just 10.4 points per game.

3. Hendersonville (3–0)The Bearcats’ offense has found its rhythm early this season. Last week, they held off a strong North Henderson team in a 32–27 win.

4. East Rutherford (2–1)Under head coach Philip Russ, the Cavaliers have momentum. They exploded for 84 points in a lopsided win over College Prep Leadership Academy.

5. Crest (3–0)The Chargers are undefeated through three games and once again look loaded with talent.

6. Statesville (3–0)The Greyhounds are earning buzz across Iredell County. If their hot start continues, they could be poised for a deep playoff run.

7. Freedom (3–0)After several lean years, the Patriots appear to be back on track. They’re showing signs of competing for a conference title and possible playoff run.

8. Pisgah (2–1)After a slow start against Mountain Heritage, the Bears have bounced back with two straight wins. Running back Landon Pope has six touchdowns, while quarterback Matthew Mehaffey has accounted for six scores of his own.

9. Owen (2–1)The Warhorses defeated Patton 22–7 on the road last Friday. With Hayden Burpeau averaging 102 rushing yards per game, Owen is showing balance by throwing the football as well. It has been a decade since the Warhorses were serious contenders, but second-year head coach Jonathan Faircloth has them trending upward.

10. North Henderson (2–1)The Knights have proven they can compete with top teams. They can score points and deliver on defense, making them a team to watch.
